Intarsia,
from the latin verb interserere,
"to insert," is the onlaying of stone or
wood to create a mosaic. Its European
beginnings as an art form date back to
the Renaissance period.
In
their studio, the Moretons use this
technique in stone to create rich details
and a fresh look for jewelry. Using a
palette of brilliantly colored natural
stones from around the world, each
stone is cut and ground by hand for a
precision fit and extraordinary design.
Every finished piece is signed by the
artist and is unique from all others.
